With 60.3 hectares, the island belongs to The Humboldt Penguin National Reserve, has a sandy soil with gravel and organic matter.

Getting There

Leaving La Serena on the Panamericana Route to the north, about 78 km, leave the detour signs to the National Reserve. Then, at km 101, is passed through the town of Punta de Choros Baja, and beyond there are 22 km of gravel. A road that is not in very good condition leads to the office of the Conaf Administration and the Center for Environmental Information.
